    Position Summary:

    Posting Closing Date: 6/24/2021The Clinical Laboratory Manager manages and directs the overall operations of assigned laboratory and diagnostic services section(s).

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelors of Science CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Five (5) years experience in core lab operations AND Three (3) years progressive experience in a lead, coordinator or supervisory role preferred. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Working knowledge of clinical laboratory operations. Personnel management experience. Understanding of revenue cycle and registration processes. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work both independently and effectively with others. Excellent communication and writing skills.

    Essential Functions:

  • Recommends and initiates personnel actions for hires, conducts performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

  • Ensures staff members are adequately trained and are competent to perform all required job duties.

  • Develops metrics and monitors laboratory performance and when necessary, takes steps to improve.

  • Works with Lab Director to prepare an annual budget for the department(s); monitors, verifies and reconciles expenditures to budget on a periodic basis.

  • Works with Lab Director to prepare an annual capital budget and submits capital budget requests as needed.

  • Ensures Clinical Laboratory operations are compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinates with the medical staff on issues which impact lab and clinical operations.

  • Ensure Regulatory readiness.

  • Oversees all aspects of operations of central processing, referred testing, hematology, chemistry, blood bank and microbiology departments.

  • Directly manages Sectin Head staff.

  • Serves as resource for laboratory leadership dyad.

  • Monitors productivity and efficiency reports for improvement opportunities.

  • Conducts performance evaluations for clinical laboratory personnel and periodic check-in’s for new associates.

  • Represents the department on hospital committees.

  • Responsible for recruitment activities for all core laboratory personnel.

  • Works with Lab Director to prepare annual operating and capital budget for the laboratory.

  • Responsible for department’s overall state of preparedness for regulatory inspection.
