The Biotechnology Group IP Paralegal is responsible for providing support to IP Counsels within the Biotechnology Group. This position will be responsible for all aspects of IP support, from the filing of patent and trademark applications in multiple jurisdictions, diary management, and integration of or divestiture of acquired assets from M&A activity, inventor remuneration to completing formality-based actions. The Group Biotechnology IP Paralegal will report to the Biotechnology Group Senior IP Paralegal.

What you’ll do

  • Provide end to end support to IP Counsel(s), supporting formalities-based activities across the group for all IP topics, including patents, designs, trademarks, and copyrights.

  • Prepare, file and format patent/design, trademarks, and copyright documents for submission to the UK/SE/EP/PCT & USPTO as required, completing all associated docketing requirements within Danaher’s IP management tool.

  • Instruct foreign outside counsel as appropriate at the foreign/national stage filing & completing associated docketing activities.

  • Monitor Platform central IP mailbox, docketing as appropriate and communicating with IP counsel.

  • Manage the docket(s) of IP counsel as assigned, maintaining due dates, monitoring deadlines, and weekly meetings to review.

  • Support integration of and/or divestiture of IP assets resulting from M&A activity.

  • Assist in the development of processes and lead project initiatives across the Platform collaborating with peers, including inventor bonus management.

Who you are

  • 2+ years’ experience handling patent preparation and prosecution.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  • Paralegal certification is meritorious

  • Proficiency in use of IP docketing tools including IP Folio and Foundation IP.

  • Detailed knowledge of SE, EP, US and foreign patent and trademark law prosecution practices.

    It would be a plus if you also possess abilities such as

  • Being data driven, detail-oriented with excellent analytical and systems administration skills.

  • Strong prioritization skills to manage workload as well as strong communication to align priorities with stakeholder needs.

  • Willingness and knowledge to use continuous improvement procedures and Danaher’s Business System (DBS) to drive results.

  • Positively address change management.
