Process Engineer - $88,000+/- (DOE) Upper Sandusky, OH

About the Role:

The Glass Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and improving glass production processes. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing processes to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, a deep understanding of glass manufacturing, and a passion for continuous improvement.

  • Process Design and Development: Develop and implement process designs for the manufacturing of glass products, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.

  • Process Optimization: Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and product quality.

  • Quality Control: Establish and monitor quality control systems to ensure products meet specified standards and customer requirements.

  • Safety Management: Ensure that all processes comply with safety regulations and work to continuously improve safety standards within the manufacturing environment.

  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.

  • Project Management: Lead and participate in projects aimed at process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new product introductions.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, maintenance, and R&D, to drive process improvements and innovation.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of process changes, improvements, and performance metrics. Report on process performance and project status to management.

  • Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to production staff on new and existing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education / Experience: An Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field of study. Alternatively, 3-5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the glass manufacturing industry.

  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of glass manufacturing processes (cutting, bending, tempering, annealing, lamination, etc.). Proficiency in AutoCAD or other 2D and 3D software. Ability to understand Engineering drawings. Experience with Fanuc Robots, Fanuc CNC, or Allen-Bradley PLCs is a plus.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving project goals.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Continuous Improvement: Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies is desirable.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Perform or assist with any departmental operations as required or directed to maintain workflow and meet production schedules and requirements.

  • Maintain safe work areas and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.

  • Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

  • Recommend revisions to control documentation such as production checklists, operating procedures, and policy manuals. Make and distribute authorized modifications as required.

  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. Perform other related duties as assigned.
