Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services (ES), Next Gen Technology (NextGen), is seeking several Enterprise Architect/Strategists for Digital Thread in support of our Digital Transformation Office (DTO) and Enterprise Initiatives. This position will align the Information Technology strategy for the Next Gen Digital Thread organization within Northrop Grumman with the broader NG DTO Enterprise Architecture. The successful candidate will define the enterprise digital engineering roadmap, strategy and architecture to enable execution of program and customer requirements in defining their product and digital thread/twin responsibilities. The candidate will also translate concepts, develop transformational strategies, implement change, and create & drive responsiveness to business requirements. A critical element of the role will be to synchronize enterprise and sector digital product strategies and design in partnership with the NG Digital Transformation Office (DTO).

This position will report to the Director of Next Gen Digital Thread and can be based out of our Falls Church Corporate Headquarters, other Sector Locations (such as Virginia, Linthicum, MD, Utah, San Diego, CA, Redondo Beach, CA) or remotely. This position can be hired as a Level 6 or Level 7, depending on the candidate's experience and education.

Core Responsibilities/Duties

The role will encompass some or all of the following:

  • Lead the creation of MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) defined enterprise digital thread architectures and roadmaps for a fully functionalized Next Gen Digital Thread product line, portfolio, and organization. This is aligned with business functional organizations, and focused on enabling outcomes of the business – cost reduction, efficiencies, speed to market, reuse & application tool simplification across the product domains.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with DTO, sector, industry and supplier councils in developing methodologies and standards in achieving product definition and development innovation. The roadmaps and strategy will ultimately integrate and synchronize corporate and sector digital product strategies and design.

  • Drive strategy and execution toward a common set of tools across all sectors centered on a Integrated Digital Environment (IDE) (inclusive of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)) strategy that is the single source of truth across the enterprise for product definition, attributes, data structure, and data content.

  • Drive the prioritization, budgeting, and resource planning of IT work to support Next Gen Digital Thread business objectives and key initiatives for sectors and programs.

  • Drive global deployment and adoption of information technology solutions across Northrop Grumman. Maximize the alignment of Enterprise Services with Sector operating models, strategies, and investments.

  • Be responsible for improving IT operational excellence and controlling costs for the Product Line services and functions globally. Monitor customer satisfaction levels with service delivery and engage resources to assist as required to meet and exceed service level objectives.

  • Demonstrate the highest levels of leadership integrity, openness, compliance and honesty in all business interactions

Additional Responsibilities/Duties may include:

  • Establishing the DTO Enterprise Architecture and/or IDE/PLM technical vision and helping to lead the technological development.

  • Directs DTO and/or EDE/PLM technologies strategic roadmaps, development and future growth.

  • Participate in management decisions about corporate governance.

  • Oversees current technology and governance to create relevant policy.

  • Maintain current information about technology standards and compliance regulations.

  • Identify technology opportunities and risks for the business.

  • Monitor technology and social trends that could impact the company.

  • Provide leadership to DTO enterprise architecture and/or IDE PLM department leads in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission and values as an IT partner to the DTO Chief Engineer and Sector Business Partners.

  • Works in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as advanced development, production and operations as an advisor of technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies, alignment and assessment on implementation probability.

  • Supports business acquisition Proposal assessing Digital Product Lifecycle execution and risk

  • Communicate the company's technology strategy to partners, management, industry and employees.

Basic Qualifications:

This position will be hired as a T06 (Senior Staff Engineering Systems Architect) or T07 (Consulting Engineering Systems Architect) with the following Basic Qualifications:

T07 (Consulting Engineering Systems Architect)

  • Bachelor of Science degree, or related technical discipline, and 20 years of applicable experience. 18years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; 15years with a PhD.

T06 (Senior Staff Engineering Systems Architect)

  • Bachelor of Science degree, or related technical discipline, and 14 years of applicable experience. 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; 9years with a PhD.

Common Basic Qualifications (T06 or T07):

  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering architectures ideally with some tool experience (e.g. Cameo, Rhapsody, etc.).

  • Experience developing and deploying architectures to support Integrated Digital Environments (IDE), product lifecycle management (PLM), computer aided design (CAD), computer aided manufacturing (CAM), computer based engineering (CAE), and model based engineering (MBE).

  • Experience with providing strategic direction regarding our Information Technology products, processes, applications, and technology.

  • Experience with independently prioritize, plan, and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results.

  • Experience with pro-actively identify issues and solutions to those issues, and drive issues rapidly to closure.

  • Experience with identifying systemic technical and service delivery challenges affecting the service delivery; engage constructively to identify solutions.

  • US Citizenship with an ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of product development, in product design, engineering, manufacturing engineering, production quality, procurement and support.

  • 2+ years’ experience leading an engineering team that leveraged advance digital technologies and processes (i.e. model based approaches, DevSecOps, agile development or employed Industry 4.0 capabilities).

  • Ability to coach others throughout the organization to manage key elements of the transformation.

  • Experience with cyber security concepts and architectures for unclassified and classified environments.

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (e.g., Cameo)

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, budgets and schedules.

  • Demonstrated experience with developing proposals and project statements of work for external bid and competitive differentiation.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan, and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results.

  • Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify issues and solutions to those issues, and drive issues rapidly to closure.

  • Active DOD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance or SAP/SAR program clearance.

Salary Range: $157,500.00 - $236,300.00Salary Range 2: $174,900.00 - $262,300.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
