JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A Research Technologist - Life Sciences position is available in the molecular biology laboratory of Dr. Joseph Reese (http://science.psu.edu/bmb/people/jcr8) at The Pennsylvania State University (http://psu.edu) . This a funded project that focuses on characterizing stress response pathways in eukaryotic cells. Responsibilities include: isolating and analyzing nucleic acids; culturing and genetic manipulation of microbes; protein purification; mammalian tissue culture; western blotting; maintaining written and electronic laboratory records; organizing and presenting data; assisting with ordering laboratory supplies; and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Education and Experience

This position will be filled at the Professional or Intermediate Professional level depending on the final candidate's background and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher, plus 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for the level 1. Additional education and experience is required for higher levels. Experience with mammalian tissue culture and analyzing gene expression is a plus.

Additional Information

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $55,500.00
