JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available at The Pennsylvania State University to study how prelimbic circuits are altered by animal models of adolescent binge drinking, under the supervision of Dr. Nikki Crowley. The lab studies the role of neuropeptides and g-protein coupled receptors in modulating neurons, circuits, and systems. We investigate interactions between neuropeptides and neurotransmitters, how these systems are altered by things like biological sex, stress, drug exposure, and age, and how we can target peptide systems, with a strong emphasis on ex vivo neuroscience methods.
Education and Experience: A Ph.D is required, and strong applicants will have training in neuroscience, biology, pharmacology, or neural engineering. Experience with patch-clamp electrophysiology and molecular methods are strongly preferred. The successful applicant should have strong communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot scientific problems independently.
