JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Sleep, Health, and Society Collaboratory housed within the Department of Biobehavioral Health in the College of Health and Human Development seeks part-time Undergraduate Research Assistants (UGRAs) to provide support to the Principal Investigator (Pl) and Project Leaders with research studies being conducted. This position will predominantly be involved in collection, documentation, quality assurance, and management of sleep-related data collected in the field on ambulatory recording devices that are worn by research participants.
Primary duties will include assisting in the management of sleep and physical activity actigraphy data collection supplies and devices, testing and evaluating the functioning of devices used for data collection, receiving and transporting biologic specimens to lab for assay, contributing to the creation of Standard Operating Procedures, and communicating concerns with data or devices to supervisors.
Individuals in this position may train new team members in similar tasks as those described above. Duties of the position, including whether the team member is completing tasks that necessitate a physical presence on campus, may vary slightly depending upon team needs and the individual’s Return-to-Research approval status within the Department.
This position is a temporary appointment, compensated hourly. Expected weekly hours are approximately 10, with additional hours determined based on laboratory needs and the research assistant’s availability.
This job is designed and intended for individuals actively pursuing an undergraduate degree at The Pennsylvania State University.
Previous experience supporting research activities of a human subjects research laboratory with a focus on sleep health outcomes is preferred. Previous experience with sleep- or activity-related data collection also preferred.
