JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State School of Public Policy has immediate openings for Part-Time Program Assistants. This is a 20-hour-a-week appointment that will assist in promoting and providing general support for the School of Public Policy’s programs, which may include support for events, research, recruitment, interviewing, writing, photography, and/or graphic design. This position may assist with the development and execution of special projects such as but not limited to, outreach efforts, collaborative events, or social media.

Through a project-based learning approach, the Part-Time Program Assistant will develop a professional portfolio to share with future employers and will engage in work that can develop skills in several career readiness competency areas.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

· Career Development – Working with a professional team who will teach and mentor you.

· Communication – Developing active listening skills and learning to advocate for yourself related to the guidance you need with assigned tasks.

· Equity & Inclusion – Adapting to diverse environments and actively engaging people from different local and global cultures in creative work.

· Leadership – Developing confidence and the ability to motivate others to engage with photography, video, and social media projects.

· Professionalism – Demonstrating dependability and effective work habits.

· Teamwork – Developing collaboration skills and building strong working relationships with peers, supervisors, and other offices.

· Technology – Understanding how and when to use creative technologies to help the unit reach its goals.

This position is subject to a semesterly review process and is contingent upon maintaining a 3.2 cumulative GPA within the Master of Public Policy program.

This position begins Friday, August 18 and ends Friday, May 3, 2024. The School of Public Policy does not offer summer-time employment.
