JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The School of Labor and Employment Relations (https://ler.la.psu.edu/) in the College of the Liberal Arts (https://la.psu.edu/) at Penn State invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty appointment t hat is anticipated to begin July 1, 2024 . The appointment would be at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor . This is a 48-week , term appointment with no expectation of renewal.

Applicants for this position will be expected to teach a course in the graduate degree program in Labor and Global Worker Rights (LGWR) . They will also be responsible for directing the LGWR program, which includ es among other duties : managing the admission s process and supporting incoming students , l iais ing with the Graduate Staff Assistant on program issues , course scheduling, co nduct ing student orientation s, planning assistantship work, providing academic advising and graduation checks, and resolving student and faculty issues.

The Assistant Teaching Professor will also a ct as the Penn State representative on the Global Labour University international steering committee , as well as supporting activities of Penn State’s Center for Global Workers’ Rights.

To be considered for the Assistant Teaching Professor rank, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management (or related field) by the appointment date. Teaching experience is required .

In addition, s uccessful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable , and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.

The School of Labor and Employment Relations (LER) offers undergraduate degrees in Labor and Human Resources and in Organizational Leadership, as well as graduate degrees in Human Resources and Employment Relations and in Labor and Global Workers’ Rights, in residence and online through Penn State’s World Campus. This position will be located at the University Park Campus of Penn State. T eaching duties will be in residence. The successful candidate will also be expected to perform occasional service duties within the School of LER.
