JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, Career Services (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/career) , is seeking an Assistant Director of Programs & Events. This position will assist the Senior Associate Director in providing oversight of the Programs & Events unit, including the day-to-day management of workshops, program requests, special events, and career fairs. The Assistant Director for Programs & Events will schedule and facilitate monthly Programs & Events meetings and will assist the Senior Associate Director and Assistant Director for Career Counseling in facilitating the monthly student services meetings. Finally, this position is responsible for the onboarding and training of new programs & events staff members, including full-time staff, graduate assistants, graduate interns, and peer outreach interns.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide guidance to three direct reports and middle managers: the Student Outreach Coordinator, the Program Coordinator, and the Career Fair Coordinator. Respond to their timely questions, issues, and concerns on a daily basis.

  • Assist the Senior Associate Director in overseeing the entire programs & events operation, including the scheduling and offering of educational workshops and programs, the planning and implementation of career fairs, and the planning and delivery of special events.

  • Schedule, prepare for, and facilitate programs & events staff meetings on an ongoing basis.

  • Provide direct service delivery to students through drop-in career coaching and leading a wide variety of career-related workshops and educational seminars.

  • Assist the Senior Associate Director in creating and implementing a programs and events assessment program that assesses the satisfaction and impact that our ongoing programs and events are having on our students.

  • Manage the onboarding and training of new full-time programs & events staff, graduate assistants, graduate workshop interns, and peer outreach interns. Train all new staff on a wide array of workshop topics, events, and career fairs.

Typical Education & Experience

5+ years of related experience in career services management

Master’s Degree or higher in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education or a related discipline

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Certifications, Registrations or Licensure:May require a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) or Licensed Professional Counselor

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
