POSITION SUMMARY:

An Office Professional provides and assists students and families with oversight for federal, state, and local financial aid programs. Assists in daily operations and has the ability to quickly and accurately perform data entry. The primary responsibilities are assisting financial aid advisors with aid program management, special projects, outreach campaigns, providing customer service, assessing the needs of each customer, and assisting with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This position will work with a large amount of students from a diverse community of learners with various socio-economic, educational, and ethnic backgrounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Maintain current knowledge of internal policies, procedures, and programs as well as general federal and state regulations pertaining to aid. Attend trainings and conferences as necessary to keep current knowledge.
  • Provide face-to-face, phone, and electronic customer service. This includes assessing student's needs, dispensing and assisting with filling out forms, assigning students to Financial Aid Advisors, and helping students with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Excellent communication , interpersonal, writing, and problem solving skills are fundamental. Multi-task with minimal errors.
  • Review student files and FAFSA's and perform first line of manual reviews and simple verification. Process incoming documentation and assist with the input of completed loan requests.
  • Oversees the management of consortium agreements and the students participating.
  • Participate with new student onboarding's, orientations, and various financial aid events.
  • Assist Financial Aid Advisors with aid program management, special projects, and student outreach. Carry out projects through to completion with minimal supervision. Ability to excel in outcome-oriented and dynamic work environment.
  • Provide aid-related information and services to students, faculty, staff and external constituents. Address and articulate policies and procedures developed by the Financial Aid Office to ensure the equitable treatment of all students receiving financial assistance.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Specific certification, training, apprenticeship or experience in addition to high school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of position related experience
  • Exemplary customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Additional Experiences Considered
  • Previous experience in higher education, and specifically financial aid.
  • Associate's degree or higher.
