NBC Universal Production Manager in Universal City, California

E! News Digital is seeking a Production Manager to work closely with our SVP of News Operations to oversee E! News Digital in terms of production, budgets and planning. You would have exciting insight into the productions across the team and participate in the production logistics for new and upcoming series as well.

Tasks include but are not limited to –

  • Prepare production plans and assumptions, including budgets, schedules, equipment/technology recommendations for a variety of digital program types.

  • Make sure all production logistics are being secured and appropriately requested (permits, COIs, freelance crew, agreements, etc)

  • Review and generate agreements for locations, talent day hires, material releases

  • Work with Executive Producer/Network Executives from project conception through and including final delivery of all program materials.

  • Determine and anticipate budget and production needs for a variety of projects.

  • Liaise between producers and internal departments (B&A, legal, studio engineering, building facilities, etc)

  • Supervise and train production coordinators on new/updated processes and systems

  • Ensure call sheets are sent accurately and in a timely manner

  • Have an understanding of production and technical standards, show formatting, deal memos, contracts, financial reporting, insurance, production and safety policies

  • Review and approve invoices and expense reports

  • Review payroll reports for accurate coding and billing

  • Track expenses and review finance reports for a variety of production departments and shows

  • Create and maintain relationships with decision-makers and leaders across all production support teams including legal, finance, facilities, etc to easily troubleshoot any issues that may arise

  • Call and lead multi-department meetings for production planning

  • Review risk assessment as needed and know what to look for that may be unusual

  • Supervise production and post needs for individual projects

  • Attend tech walkthroughs/location scouts when applicable

  • Develop and maintain production contacts, including equipment rentals of all types and personnel across production categories

  • Oversee talent planning and expenses for remote events, ensure production expenses are reported properly

  • Negotiate prices with vendors and crew

  • Other projects and duties as assigned

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required

Basic Requirements:

  • 3+ years of production management experience for a broadcast, cable or digital video production company

  • Must have a good understanding of production workflow and have hands-on experience in clip, stage-based, and field productions.

  • Must be able to create budgets in MovieMagic, schedules, and full-scale production plans for a variety of program types

Desired Characteristics:

  • Must have excellent project management, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be team-oriented but able to demonstrate leadership skills, organized, accurate, articulate, responsible, flexible, resourceful, self-motivated, hand-on when needed and able to delegate

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be able to work cooperatively with all levels of staff, ATL, BTL and executives

  • Must be a self-starter, capable of decision making based off of limited available information

  • Experience with live event production is a plus.
