Description
Position Summary:
As a product developer at Unity, you will play a vital role in creating and developing innovative products for a variety of audiences. You'll guide development of new products from concept to launch; helping to determine product features, value proposition, market positioning, target audiences, design, pricing, and differentiating features to inform marketing strategies. You’ll work closely with many departments including design, marketing, purchasing, distribution, printing, Customer Care and more. You'll also work closely with vendors and printers to bring product concepts to life. The ideal candidate must have direct product development experience along with solid analytical skills. A marketing background along with a robust understanding of e-commerce tools such as Amazon and Shopify are preferred. Must reside in Greater Kansas City Area .
Essential Job Functions:
Follow the established product development process at Unity to create innovative products and resources for diverse audiences. Continuously evaluate and suggest enhancements to the process to ensure optimal efficiency.
Manage an 18-month product development roadmap; ensuring products are created and delivered on approved timelines.
Conduct research on consumers to understand trends and identify untapped opportunities for product development.
Complete market and competitive research regularly as part of product development cycle. Use market insights to inform product positioning and pricing.
Manage tracking and reporting on product costs, revenues, and ROI.
Work closely with marketing team, digital team, purchasing and customer care to effectively manage new product launches.
Create documentation and present new products to Customer Care so they can upsell.
Create detailed product proposals and contribute to other marketing-oriented writing projects such as creating product descriptions for online stores and other marketing copy.
Oversee Unity’s presence/storefront on Amazon including coordination of product delivery, troubleshooting issues and tracking sales.
Assist with loading product listings to e-commerce platforms including a move of entire catalog to Shopify.
Coordinate annual product catalog creation and distribution.
Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and paid off requests.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree focused on product development, marketing, or industrial design.
Computer Skills:
Proficient user of all Microsoft Office programs. Airtable knowledge preferred. Experience using Shopify backend preferred. A working knowledge of project tracking programs such as JIRA preferred.
Required Experience:
Product development experience required including competitive research analysis, pricing, product launches, and marketing.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate target audiences and trends to forecast opportunities.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with associates at all levels including executives and board members; both technical and non-technical.
Strong analytical skills with ability to articulate value propositions, and reasons behind analytical conclusions.
Direct experience managing Amazon accounts/storefronts.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, be very well organized, and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
