Gleason Automation Systems (GAS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op for the 2022 Spring & Summer semesters, whichwill work within our Mechanical Engineering department. The co-op will be designing and detailing mechanisms and components, creating bills of materials, assembly drawings, and interacting with department members to ensure quality of deliverables.
The co-op will also help support engineering issues from the assembly floor with the build team.
Solid Model Creation – model prismatic, rotational, and Sheetmetal components
Create Manufacturing Drawings – create basic views, apply dimensions, using proper tolerance callouts
Create Assembly models and Assembly Drawings – create basic views, isometric views and apply bill of material balloons to appropriate components
GD&T and Tolerance Applications – apply GD&T appropriately to designed components
Problem Solving – use engineering background to interpret technical information with abstract or concrete variables as well as focus on small details
Communication – comprehend and communicate effectively verbally and in written form
Team Skills – participate in engineering team activities and contribute ideas
Time Management Skills – manage time and prioritize simultaneous tasks
Improvement on general processes
Development of standards – sub-assemblies, and mini assemblies of our machines that can be used by engineering without having to resort to designing from scratch
Machine simulations through means of SolidWorks, or other software
Prototyping and testing new designs
4th or 5th year in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Tech.
Proficiency using SolidWorks
Knowledge of AutoCAD/Draftsight (Small 2D drawing tasks possible)
Ability to identify, prioritize and execute tasks to meet daily goals.
- Experience with design and manufacturing of mechanical components
