Job/Position DescriptionEmergency Medical Services Specialist IPerforms complex emergency medical services work. Work involves coordinating, planning, and evaluating emergency medical services education/training and certification activities; planning, coordinating, and inspecting healthcare providers for licensing/credentialing; investigate submitted entity complaints and provide appropriate recommendations or actions for compliance; and providing technical assistance and information to healthcare providers, program staff, governmental agencies, and community organizations. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position is eligible to telework (up to 5 days per week).EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited EMS education programs adopted by national accrediting organizations. Experience in public health work.Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. This position is eligible to telework (up to 5 days per week). Selected candidate must have the ability to provide a reliable internet service in a home office location free from distractions, that will provide the ability to ensure confidentiality of work product. Selected candidate must telework from Texas.Investigate complaints relating to EMS licensees, certificant holders. Develop and carry out investigative plans and prepare detailed reports. Recommends courses of action for correcting violations of the EMS Act, rules and policy adopted there under. Complete complaint summaries within required timelines and in accordance with Program Guidelines and Work Plans. (25%)Review, evaluate and approve EMS education/training and certification activities in compliance with the EMS Act and rules and policy adopted there under. Reviews instructional and skills testing activities used in the public health setting. Participates in advisory councils. Assists with the development of program goals, objectives, and evaluation activities. Prepare written reports within specified timelines and in accordance with program guidelines and work plans. Performs inspections associated with state licensing requirements. (25%)Compile and analyze data to support decisions for license issuance for pre-hospital healthcare entities. Coordinate and provide license survey and inspections to comply with the EMS Act, rules and policy adopted there under. Perform regular inspections associated with licensing survey requirements. Evaluate and process license application packets and related data for compliance with the EMS Act. (25%)May appear in public hearing and public relations activities related to emergency medical services as an EMS subject matter expert. With leadership and guidance from the Manager will serve as a liaison and coordinate with other State EMS/Trauma System offices, local RAC and other EMS entities. Research, interpret and disseminate standards, policies, rules, and definitions pertaining to EMS stakeholders. (10%) Uses computer for inputting and retrieving data and word processing to include Microsoft products, Word, Excel, Teams, and Power Point. Follow program guidelines for all EMS activities. Ensures entry in EMS database and inspection documents is timely and error free. (10%)Other duties as assigned include disaster response activities.
