Job Title: Specialist I, Technical Repair - Ultrasound

Job purpose

This position is intended to configure, repair and test ultrasound systems. Performs electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs of ultrasound systems and components. Follows established procedures for cleaning, testing, troubleshooting and dispositioning transducers. Extensive troubleshooting, and investigative skills are required along with the ability to follow work instructions and generate QA documentation as required in an FDA-regulated industry.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with the configuration, repair, and testing of ultrasound systems. Perform electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repair of ultrasound systems and components.

  • Evaluate products, options, transducers, parts, etc., and coordinate repair/replacement.

  • Follow the appropriate inventory management practices for the area.

  • Work with team members to quickly adjust priorities to address urgent service issues including part procurement.

  • Complete appropriate QA documentation for each repair performed.

  • Follow all safety and quality policies and procedures.

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with business strategy, sales, marketing, clinical application support, operation, accounting, finance and other related divisions to support successful ultrasound business.

  • Comply with all applicable U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) medical device regulatory requirements, applicable ISO 13485 standard requirements and all other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least one year component level repair experience on diagnostic and imaging instrumentation desired.

  • Some knowledge and experience in design, installation, service and maintenance of complex mechanical/electrical equipment helpful.

Educational requirements:

  • Associates degree in an electronic/electric field of study; or equivalent offsetting experience.

Special skills and other job requirements:

  • Ability to extract pertinent technical information from available documentation.

  • Ability to use necessary test equipment and follow established repair procedures.

  • Ability at operating tools and test equipment.

  • Soldering proficiency desired.

  • PC troubleshooting & PCB modification experience preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Physical requirements

The position requires the ability to perform the following physical demands and/or have the listed capabilities:

  • Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; talk; and hear.

  • Frequently use fingers to type and do other fine motor tasks.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.

  • Frequently uses personal, public and air transportation.

  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. to shoulder level unassisted.

  • Must follow all required safety rules and guidelines for the area, including wearing personal protective equipment.

Travel

  • Occasional (up to 10%) travel may be required based on business need.
