Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Housing is a full-time professional staff member of the Housing and Residence Life staff. The position is responsible for assisting with housing and meal plans operations, utilizing the eRezlife housing software. Assisting with Housing Operations for all of the residence halls and apartments. This position has direct contact with students, families and facilities staff. This position participates in the on-call duty rotation for campus crisis and emergency response. The Assistant Director of Housing is supervised by the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
Essential Job Duties
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
- Assist the Director of Housing and Residence Life coordinate on campus residence hall openings/closings, housing selection and first year placements.
- Assist the Director of Housing and Residence Life manage all aspects relating to campus and off campus apartments.
- Assist with Housing staff selections, including professional and para professional staff
- Responsible for day-to-day coordination facility related operations within the residential areas.
- Assist with Housing assignments for all students
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings, training sessions as well as serve on a variety of Committees and projects within the University community
- Have a working knowledge of the eRezlife software system and participate in ongoing training.
- Partner with the Dean of Students to adjudicate hall policies and Community Standards violations
- Assist the Director of Housing and Residence Life with managing all buildings and systems operations; make effective independent decisions and follow through on assignments
- Coordinate residential inspections with Hall Directors and Coordinator of staffing and Housing Operations
- Serve as a liaison with Campus technology
- Prepare residential facilities, train residence hall staff on opening/closing transitions, facilities management including supply order fulfillment and follow-up
- Receive updates on renovations and projects with residential facilities with the Director of Housing and Residence Life
- Assist in departmental decision making and the development of departmental policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelors Degree required. Masters preferred
- Previous residential hall managerial experience preferred
- Experience with interpreting policy and procedures established by the University with knowledge of compliance and product/service quality
- Experience supervising a team of professional and para professional employees
Physical Demands
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to walk short distances
- Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
- Ability to view a computer terminal
- Work environment Mid to High pace
- Noise level is usually low
