Summary About the Position: This is a Legal Assistant, GS-0986-07 position for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division, Tulsa District and located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For additional information on USACE Tulsa District click Here Responsibilities Manage and operate various office software and databases for legal and financial documentation. Produce and organize legal documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and proper format. Handle office communications, coordinate schedules, and manage visitor and call reception. Conduct research and support in the preparation of legal materials, including litigation support. Assist in managing Freedom of Information Act requests and compliance with relevant regulations. Support in the claims process, including research, documentation, and correspondence. Perform general administrative tasks, including file management, travel arrangements, supply procurement, and meeting organization. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes following duties: 1) Preparing, reviewing and organizing legal case and administrative materials including large collections of documents; AND 2) Assisting attorneys with case management and logistical planning in support of legal case preparation and hearings; AND 3) Creating documents and spreadsheets for a legal office and for litigation using software such as Word, Adobe and Excel. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Computer Skills Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Legal, Government and Jurisprudence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
