POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a HR Generalist. The Generalist oversees the human resources programs, policies and procedures at the Plant in accordance with established guidelines. In all actions, demonstrates a high level of confidentiality; supports the Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruiting and Onboarding:

  • Oversee and coordinate site specific recruiting to obtain qualified applicant pool.

  • Source, schedule, and participate in interviews.

  • Update requisitions and applicant flow EEO data in the HRIS system.

  • Conduct hourly assessments, pre-employment background checks and employment verifications; and coordinate pre-employment physicals and drug tests.

  • Generate offer letters in accordance with established business processes.

  • Schedule and conduct new hire orientation classes.

  • Prepare, maintain and distribute new employee packets.

  • Coordinate with hiring department to ensure that all new hires obtain necessary technology access.

    Employee Relations:

  • Manage situational employee relations issues at site in accordance with business guidelines.

  • Advise and counsel Supervisors and Managers regarding employee concerns; suggest proactive solutions to improve workplace culture.

  • Suggest level of and participate in progressive disciplinary actions in accordance with established guidelines.

  • Function as subject matter expert for interpretation and implementation of employment policies and procedures.

  • Manage site fun team budget to coordinate activities to improve employee morale.

  • Maintain Employee Communication Board.

  • Distribute/track medical/dental enrollments for benefits eligibility. Participate in benefits administration to include claims resolution; change reporting, open enrollment meetings and employee assistance.

  • Function as site FMLA administrator in accordance with business process.

  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees; track trends for turnover.

  • Administer alcohol and drug testing program in accordance with established guidelines.

  • Assist with all employee meetings, events and functions.

  • Participate as an active member of the Safety, Community, Wellness and Fun Committees, by attending monthly meetings, take accurate notes and update and distribute minutes.

  • Participate in site staff meetings as HR representative.

Performs other related duties or projects as required and assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or 3-5 plus years of experience in the HR Field or any similar combination of education and experience is required.

  • Requires prior working knowledge of principles and practices of human resources.

  • Prior experience with an HRIS database preferred.

  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

  • Prior knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions is preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel is required.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License to help with local errands as needed.
