Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of the Position:

• Lead machine operation related product/process Quality/Cost/Delivery/Safety improvement in plant, including BOM, C/T, yield of automation & manual assembly/ testing/packing process

• Manage manufacturing engineers to cooperate with NPI team to ramp up newly implemented product or process follow Corning Innovation Process.

• Cooperate with operation team/IT to optimize production system

• Lead/support plant project, such as DMAIC, DESIGN, Lean, PQA, etc.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement process strategies, manage process resources, optimize current processes, and maintain process documents.

• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to detect process variations and abnormalities.

• Initiate and lead process improvement projects and process audits.

• Develop innovative solutions to improve process capabilities and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, maintenance, different tier of engineering team, suppliers) to implement process improvements.

• Manage and supervise a team of manufacturing engineers, providing guidance and ensuring team success.

• Review new and existing process equipment, hardware, and technology for potential improvements and upgrades.

• Provide technical expertise and training to other team members.

• Comply with all relevant safety and quality standards.

• Participate in risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident investigations, etc.

• Assist in budget development and cost tracking for the process engineering department.

• Execute cost reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives

• Lead TPOCS document receiving/reviewing for P-FMEA/Process Flow Chart/ Control Plan/ process feasibility studies/, etc.
