WSP USA Assistant Vice President, Mechanical Engineering in Troy, New York

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work full-time onsite at the US Watervliet Arsenal (Watervliet, NY). The positions will have the potential to work out of our Albany, NY area offices.

The successful candidates will work 100% on site at Watervliet Arsenal (Watervliet, NY).

Your Impact

  • Facilitate mechanical/HVAC design & construction related reviews.

  • Ensure Code Compliance reviews on all projects.

  • Communication, both written and verbally, to the client.

  • Participate as owner’s representative in design development meetings as needed.

  • Perform QA observations/document field inspections/troubleshooting startup in the field on behalf of the Owner.

  • Submit required reports, to include: daily Quality Assurance (QA) and QA testing reports; comments on interpretation of plans and specifications for Government use in contractor disputes; observed construction activities; health and safety nonconformance, with emphasis on asbestos abatement; comments upon review of construction contractor daily quality control (QC) reports; upon review of construction contractor’s monthly construction schedules and monthly progress payment requests; minutes for attended meetings; evaluations of contractor proposals; comments upon review of project schedule submissions; and cost reports.

  • Upon notification of pre-final and final inspection of the construction contractors completed work, the Contractor shall provide daily punch list inspection and contract closeout reports with observations, findings, and recommendations.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Required Qualifications

  • BS Mechanical Engineering Degree

  • 10+ years of Mechanical/HVAC Design and Construction Experience.

  • Professional Engineer Registration.

  • Experience with Building System Controls Management with I&C.

  • Client requires the ability to successfully pass security background investigation and drug testing to secure Govt CAC for site access and Govt computer access. The level of background check required by the client, requires US citizenship.

  • Familiarity with DOD Unified Facility Criteria UFC, DOD Unified Facility Guideline Specifications UFGS and/or USACE EM 385.

  • In order to access the base, a valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance and valid vehicle registration are required for security gate access.

  • To access this hazardous area, the Contractor will require a full-face respirator, respirator fit testing, medical evaluation, and regular medical surveillance.

  • While working on this project, the contractor is expected to wear respirator normally 2-4 hours per day; with the potential of being 7-8 hours per day. Due to the potential of periodic inspections throughout the day, this requirement is of high importance.

  • May require travel for briefings, coordination meetings and other events.

  • Must be skilled in the use of computers and familiar with other automation equipment, such as scanners, printers, and plotters. They shall also be familiar and be able to use the existing software systems currently used at USACE, including the Microsoft Office suite of products, Adobe Acrobat, and other commonly used software products provided by the Government.

  • This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

  • This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $117,000 - $173,800
