At Roush, you are part of building the future.Roush is seeking a Defense Mechanical Engineer II who will complete a broad range of customer projects within a variety of engineering programs. The role will work on leading edge defense projects for large and small customers with aggressive timelines. This mid-level role will be engaged in the understanding of the customer's unique component design, validation, and release needs. The Defense Mechanical Engineer will perform independent project tasks and collaborate with customers and team members.

Responsibilities:Collaborate with designers to produce 3D designs for mechanical equipment in an accurate and timely manner under the supervision of the lead engineer or supervisorPerform engineering calculations and analysis as needed for design efforts and projectsRead, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and engineering documentationManage the quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of designsPresent and communicate progress, challenges, and next steps to customers, stakeholders and team membersInterface with internal and external customers and vendors to ensure satisfactory technical requirements and schedulesCoordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new, and current customer demands and standards are metQualifications:Must be a US Citizen allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) complianceMust have ability to obtain and maintain at a minimum Department of Defense "Secret" Level Security ClearanceBachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or equivalentMinimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering in defense or automotiveKnowledge of complex mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical motors and actuators)Functional proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, SolidWorks or Siemens NX Unigraphics (UG)Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent verbal and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiencesHands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective mannerPreferred Skills:3 years of experience in Mechanical EngineeringIndustry internships, SAE International competition experience (Formula SAE, Baja SAE, enterprise programs)Knowledge of DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DVPs (Design Verification Plan), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), FEA (Finite Element Analysis), OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) release systems and proceduresKnowledge of vehicle dynamic evaluationsKnowledge of 2D drawing development and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) application and bolted and welded joint applicationsProficiency in software suites CATIA, PROe (Pro/Engineer), or MATLABTo apply, please visit the Roush careers page by clicking on this
