Kimber Mfg., Inc. Tool Room Supervisor in Troy, Alabama
This position requires a highly motivated individual with extensive experience working in a Tool Room environment.At least 15 years’ experience with Manual machines, CNC machines, MDI & Master Cam programming experience. The position will be a working in a supervisory role and support & direct the Tool room Team & all Tool Room. This is a “hands on” role where the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate ability to plan, program, set and implement machining tasks on a variety of CNC and manual machines. A strong background in manual machining techniques is required as well as at least 5 years supervisory experience. Experience with fixture design/repair is required. Knowledge of Fixture & Gage building is a must. Ability to give constructive input during the fixture/tooling design reviews.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under limited supervision, designs, fabricates, repairs, and improves tools, jigs, fixtures, simple molds, gauges and dies to the tolerances required for the intended manufacturing processes.
Must be able to work from engineering drawings, sketches, or other written or oral instructions as well as tool design drawings.
Maintain, Tooling, Fixturing, Materials, CNC programs in a systematic way to ensure proper execution of processes.
Participate with planning and purchasing departments to determine internal & external workload capacity.
Ensure machining tasks are executed in the most effective manner (manual vs. CNC) regarding time, cost, and function.
Ensure internal quality checks are conducted prior to shipment.
Assures work areas are organized, clean and hazard free; champions 5S practices.
Follow up with internal customers regarding toolroom services.
Responsible for managing the time and attendance system: audits timecards daily, manage PTO for toolroom employees and addresses violations in a timely manner to assure efficient and productive operations.
Responsible for employee safety. Immediately reports any safety concerns to manager and to EH&S as needed.
Provide leadership for employee relation through effective communication, coaching, training, and development. Detail and
Implement long-term direct reports/organization plan to increase overall department responsiveness
Performs other duties as assigned.
Training activities in fabrication, setup and programming with CNC Fabrication Technicians and .
Interpret technical prints (GD&T)
Must have knowledge of CNC machine “G-Code” and troubleshooting skills
Experience maintaining and changing tools
Experience determining offsets and adjusting accordingly
Interpret Work Orders and enter data into the Manufacturing database (ERP)
Previous Supervisory experience
5S knowledge and experience
15 years of CNC experience required.
10 years of Tool Room experience required.
5 years of leadership role experienced required High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
Lean manufacturing experience
Must have excellent communication skills; reading, writing and listening. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints. Ability write and read spreadsheets.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Minimum of GB certification is required
Required knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word using MS Windows platform. MS PowerPoint and MS Access experience a plus.
Overnight travel to other facilities will be up to 50% during the first 6 months. Travel will normally be less than 5% (training, equipment development, satellite facility support).
