Project Overview:

TROJENA (The Mountains of NEOM) will be an iconic, world-class destination, blending natural and developed landscapes and will offer unique experiences for residents and visitors alike. Located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia in the region of Tabuk just 50km from the coast, TROJENA will be a destination like no other on earth. Based upon the principles of eco-tourism facilities will include a folded vertical village, a lake with water sports and event facilities, high altitude ski village, observatory, world leading health and wellbeing facilities and a nature reserve which will be home to unique wildlife, heritage sites and exploration opportunities.

With over 3,600 hotel, 2,200 homes, 9 iconic buildings and 100 world class indoor and outdoor experiences Trojena will become the ultimate mountain destination. Bechtel will provide a full range of project management services to assist the delivery of this iconic destination.

Job Summary:

The Cranes & Rigging Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the cranes & rigging discipline. Supervises and directs cranes & rigging craft, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:

Supervision Received

  • Receives technical and operational guidance from Area Field Superintendent or other assigned supervising manager.

Supervision Exercised

  • Provides technical and administrative direction to construction contractors, EPCM contractors.

Contacts

  • Jobsite contacts are with jobsite personnel including construction contractors, EPCM contractors, Customer and other operating personnel coordinating the construction activities.

  • Provide ES&H leadership. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings

  • Ensure that all crane and rigging operations comply with applicable procedures, standards, and local regulations, customer and project-specific requirements

  • Engages in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and FLHA for rigging activities

  • Oversee that the contractors maintains all site cranes per processes and procedure requirements in regards to safe usage, site relocation, assembly/disassembly of cranes, safe rig up and safe raising-lowering of long boom cranes, proper set up, proper usage and site ground bearing conditions regarding build out of earth and timber crane pads.

  • Oversee the contractors lifting operations and crane operator qualification program including crane operator certifications, state licenses and medical certificates verifications are in place and followed by contractors.

  • Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.

  • Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.

  • Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate rigging personnel and craft professionals

  • Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within their assigned area(s) of operation

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • University/ B.S degree in Engineering or Construction Management plus 8 years of experience or 12 years of equivalent industry experience in-lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction is preferred.

  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.

  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to read and interpret crane manufactures operator’s manual and load charts

  • Experienced in safe use and inspection of rigging hardware

  • Monitor and track utilization of all site cranes

  • Certified rigger/signal person. NCCCO, NCCER or equivalent

  • Certified crane operator, NCCCO, NCCER or equivalent

  • Certified OSHA crane inspector

  • Accredited by a internationally approved association. LEEA, CPCS or equivalent.
