Job Overview

  • * Serves as primary resource and subject matter expert (SME) to Authority staff and customers regarding closing incentives and grants (“Serviced Products”).
  • * Ensures all Serviced Products are closed in a timely and accurate manner, while advancing program and business objectives.
  • * Capable of prioritizing tasks and communicating effectively while managing a high volume of work.

$76,184 - $95,230

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a manager's approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Duties

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • * Manages and closes assigned Serviced Products in a timely and accurate manner.
  • * Drafts and negotiates incentive and grant agreements and reviews and drafts modification documents to ensure accurate and timely completion of amendments.
  • * Evaluates and updates incentives and grant product workflow processes, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiencies for customers and staff, and communicates changes to the department and EDA staff as needed.

Projects:

  • * Evaluates and updates incentives and grant product workflow processes, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiencies for customers and staff; communicates changes to relevant EDA staff; mentors and trains less experienced Closing Services staff; represents the department on cross-functional teams for new product development, including developing product documents and handling closing or post-closing activities; and participates in special projects and additional duties as needed to support department workload and Authority initiatives.

Goals and Objectives:

  • * Oversee all aspects of closing and modification activities for assigned incentives and grants, including the detailed review of legal documents and due diligence, as well as the preparation of legal documents and new program template documents related to these processes.

Successfully close and/or draft a targeted number of products or agreements in alignment with the department’s annual objectives.

Collaboration and Cross-Divisional Interaction:

  • * Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other Authority business unites, senior executives, business consultants, customer legal counsel, DAGs and other internal and external stakeholders to finalize and/or update the Authority’s standard documents and processes, and ensure these changes are clearly communicated to Closing Services staff.

Reporting Structure:

  • * Reports to Manager - Product Operations Closing, and Vice President - Product Operations.
  • * Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • * Must complete annual self-assessment as required.
  • * Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • * Familiar with advanced legal terminology and documents with emphasis in areas of incentive and grant transactions.

Soft Skills:

  • * Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, working independently under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • * Must be able to develop a high level of proficiency in understanding and applying NJ statutory and EDA policy guidelines in order to effectively interpret, prepare, and/or close incentive and grant agreements.

Certifications:

  • * Paralegal certificate or degree preferred

Experience:

  • * Seven plus years experience in legal, financial or banking environment with an emphasis in tax-exempt bond financing.
  • * Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience

Education:

  • * Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent professional experience

Software/Tools Proficiency:

  • * Experience with Customer Relationship Management (“CRM”) System preferred.
  • * NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Additional Information

  • * Minimal physical demands and ability to work out normal business hours
  • * Travel expected when necessary for business operations

Certificates and Licenses Required

  • * Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.
