Position Overview
Under supervision by the Manager of Engagement and clinical oversight by a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, the Peer Support Specialist aids in the provision of engaging individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) and providing state and county resources to recovery support services through a community mobile unit initiative.

Peer Support Specialist Duties and Responsibilities
Provide support to SUD clients based on personal lived experience with access to an on-call Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Engages clients in various areas in Mercer County using a Mobile Unit that may require street recruitment
Provide clients with a Wellness Welcome Package
Provide clients with other products as available
Provide Naloxone education and distribution kits
Provide brochures and literature on available community resources
Screen and assess for SUD treatment services, treatment facilities, and harm reduction efforts
Assist coordinating with harm reduction efforts in Trenton and Mercer County
Provide community linkages to medical, primary care, or federally qualified health centers (FQHC)
Provide community linkages to housing resources and other social service needs
Initiate timely documentation of services delivered via questionnaire or survey
Provide access to On-Call clinical intervention
Attend trainings provided by Rescue Mission of Trenton and other community-based organization
Other duties as assigned

Covid-19
Rescue Mission of Trenton requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to start of employment, unless the Rescue Mission of Trenton has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
