Amergis Pediatric RN - Emergency Department in Towson, Maryland

Amergis Staffing iscurrently seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RN) for Pediatric Emergency Room (Peds ER) assignments in Towson, MD!

Position Details:

Contract Length: 13 weeks (+ability toextend)

Number of Openings: 2

Start Date: 1/7/25

Hours/Shifts/Schedules: 36 (3x12's) / Days or Nights / 7a-7p or 7p-7a

*Willwork every OTHER weekend/holiday

Setting:

  • Pediatric Emergency Room

    Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of RN Peds ER/ED experience

  • MD RN or Compact RN license

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA), TNCC

ThePediatric Registered Nurse must be kind, compassionate, and caring towardschildren. The Pediatric Registered Nurse must have a broad knowledge ofemergency pediatric nursing care and excellent communication and interpersonalskills. The Pediatric RN assumes responsibility and accountability forthe application of nursing processes and the delivery of patient care in theemergency setting as well as effectively communicates with the patient’s familyand multidisciplinary team.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care

  • Evaluates children and provides emergency care

  • Identifies changes in children's symptoms and intervene quickly and safely

  • Participates in pain management for children

  • Administers medication including oral, intramuscular, rectal, and intravenously

  • Performs venipuncture for blood draw and starts IV in children, toddlers, and infants

  • Monitors temperature, pulse, breathing, blood pressure and documents appropriately

  • Evaluates children for signs and symptoms of abuse and report to proper authorities

  • Provides supportive care to dying children and their families

  • Deals with the anxieties and demands of parents, and help families deal with their child's illness or injury

  • Remains up to date on the latest developments, rules and regulations, drug therapies, equipment, and treatment procedures in pediatric nursing

  • Uses clinical judgment to manage delivery of patient care safely and effectively

  • Communicates effectively to obtain a thorough medical history

  • Provides empathetic care and has the ability to relate to children

  • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License with in the state of practice

  • Minimum of one year pediatric emergency room experience preferred

  • Pediatric experience required

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understands patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
