Position Specific Description
Overview:
NextEra Energy seeks an experienced Senior Wind Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wind turbines, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair:
Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
Replace malfunctioning components and perform upgrades.
Field Operations:
Conduct operational analysis and performance monitoring.
Document maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Supervision and Training:
Lead and mentor junior technicians.
Oversee quality of team members' work.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety regulations and participate in training.
Perform safety assessments and use PPE.
Technical Collaboration:
Work with engineering teams to implement improvements.
Provide insights based on field experience.
Job Overview
Employees in this role perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and other associated equipment. Individuals understand the mechanics, including both electrical and maintenance of hydraulics, of all wind turbine components. This position replaces mechanical and electrical components, understands schematics and uses appropriate diagnostic tools. The successful candidate will interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports, service logs in the computer database, and monitor turbine performance and SCADA systems.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Under limited supervision:
Performs regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
Completes electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
Maintains all company supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling
Applies advanced understanding of the technical and process functions including leadership competencies
Serves as qualified reliever in the absence of site management
Leads teams in Quality Improvement (QI) projects
Provides oversight to other personnel and acts as a Safety Mentor
Completes special projects or complex task assignments
Ability to meet attendance requirements
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Grad / GED
Experience: 5+ years
Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval
Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
The estimated base pay for this position is $72,000.00 to $108,000.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
