The Arc of Litchfield County, Inc. Youcan make a difference. Create fun and innovative activities to share with people who have I/DDs. The position is hands-on. You will provide personal care that includes personal hygiene, food preparation, transportation, and community inclusion. Must be at least 21-years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

 

Holding certificates in CPR, PMT, First Aid and being Med certified is preferred, however, LARC will provideall requiredtraining. You must possess a high school diploma or GED and submit to a background screening and physical. Apply today!

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for the health, well-being and development of all persons residing within the assigned home.  Responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and cleanliness of the assigned home.  Assume the responsibilities in the absence of the House Manager.  Support the LARC mission, vision and guiding principles.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. 

  • Develop staff schedules and secure staff coverage as needed.

  • Assist the House Manager in developing short- and long-range program goals and activities for the residents.

  • Ensure that the home is in compliance with state, federal and agency policies.

  • Monitor, attend and follow up with medical and other related appointments.

  • Implement all dietary guidelines as required by dietician or RN.

  • Coordinate and plan various community activities.

  • Assist in the maintenance of residents’ banking accounts and budget logs.

  • Assist residents with attending to personal needs and mobility as necessary.

  • Coordinate in-service training, staff meetings and house meetings.

  • Maintain records pertaining to health, safety and programmatic needs of the residents.

  • Schedule fire evacuation drills, maintain fire safety records and other related safety systems.

  • Act as an active member of appropriate team(s) as necessary. 

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

     

  • Assist the House Manager with interviewing, hiring and training employees.  Planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems with consultation of the House manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

High School Degree or general education degree (GED) and 1 year's employment working with individuals with developmental disabilities.  Must have good communication/interpersonal skills.

  • The Assistant Home Manager (ARM) shall have essential physical skills, be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ own body weight), push/pull against potential resistance, and be able to implement non-physical and physical interventions and CPR with individuals supported when needed. Kneeling is required to pass CPR.

  • The ARM shall have adequate vision, reading, writing, and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the job. 

  • The ARM must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.

  • The ARM will be engaged in speaking, sitting, walking, driving, listening, and in communicating both orally and in writing while performing his or her duties.

  • The employee must be able to listen to and respond to questions and instructions.
