Overview

THE ROLE:

The Vice President, Corporate Quality Assurance at Herbalife will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest quality standards across all Herbalife products. This role requires a transformative leader with a strong background in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and process improvement within the health and wellness industry. The VP of QA will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the company's reputation for delivering high-quality, safe, and effective products.

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

  • Strategic Leadership: Further develop & enhance Herbalife’s comprehensive quality assurance strategy that aligns with Herbalife’s business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Quality Management Systems: Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality management systems (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing quality assurance team, promoting professional growth and development.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

  • Supplier Management: Manage the quality processes on a day-to-day basis by coordinating/advising the activities of quality programs both internally and externally with manufacturers and suppliers. Work with new and existing vendors to implement ongoing cGMP compliance programs.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate quality risks through proactive risk management strategies and corrective action plans.

  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of quality processes throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Customer Focus: Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing quality-related issues promptly and optimally, maintaining open communication with stakeholders.

  • Government & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products meet or exceed regulatory requirements for all markets where Herbalife operates, including FDA, GMP, ISO, and other relevant quality standards. Direct the Quality Assurance department in to ensure conformance to specifications, cGMP’s and governmental regulations. Oversee the cGMP audit process. Ensure that reviews of Herbalife Nutrition manufacturing sites and contract manufacturers are scheduled and performed through audits and testing programs.

  • Product Testing and Validation: Lead efforts in product testing, validation, and verification processes to ensure product integrity, safety, and efficacy.

  • Reporting and Metrics: Develop and maintain quality metrics and KPIs, providing regular reports to the executive team on quality performance and improvement initiatives.

  • People Development: Develop and train Herbalife Quality Assurance teams to be effective in the execution of duties and seek opportunities for improvements

  • Customer/member complaint program: take appropriate steps to ensure that material defects are appropriately handled. Provide effective communication to management in a timely manner and a response to marketing or sales on specific complaints that minimizes company's internal and external exposure while constructively taking care of the issues in the marketplace.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 15+ years of quality control experience in healthcare, life sciences, nutritional, pharmaceutical, or the personal care industry, in companies that have a reputation for world-class quality standards related to manufacturing, brand and corporate functions.

  • Extensive knowledge of FDA and State regulations pertaining to the manufacture of foods and nutritional products

  • Knowledge in the understanding and execution of cGMP's, specifically 21CFR Part 111, Part 114 and Part 117.

  • Working knowledge of international cGMP standards, such as TGA, FSSAI and Health Canada, to name a few

  • Expertise in training and implementation of Current Good Manufacturing Practices as it relates to the nutraceutical industry

Education

  • Advanced degree in Science, as well as documented certifications in food safety and regulatory compliance
