Kuehne+Nagel Area Air Logistics Manager in Torrance, California

Your Role

The position is responsible for developing, leading and streamlining the Area Airfreight Team. This includes control and improvement of operational procedures, primary development liaison for sales including structuring air freight solutions and regional air carrier responsibility.

Your Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that operation procedures are properly fulfilled within all airfreight departments.

  • Aligns area resources and planning to overall business plans.

  • Ensure all relevant/applicable KPI’s set are met.

  • Enforce compliance with internal/external regulation(s) (KN/government).

Data Quality:

  • Comply/follow up with Data Quality and FSL requirements/schedules in close cooperation with airfreight data quality team.

  • Ensure adherance to quality and safety guidelines and procedures.

Finance:

  • Ensure billing status report accuracy.

  • Monitor profit and loss target versus actual on a monthly basis for all airfreight operations within area.

  • Support finance with accounts receivable issues.

Staff - Departments:

  • Participate in airfreight recruitment/selection processes throughout area.

  • Support Airfreight department managers with staffs overall training/cross training needs.

Airlines/Carriers Responsibilities:

  • Review and take appropriate actions on quarterly airline/carrier performance reports.

  • Negotiate rates together with corporate airfreight staff.

Business Development:

  • Primary liaison with corporate business development and airfreight business development in assembling/preparing information for customers’ RFQ for the area.

  • Manage local and regional RFQs and provide air freight solutions.

  • QBR and RFQ meetings with sales.

  • Host role for business field Air Freight for all CST visitors.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Value propositions to client/sales.

  • Escalation and support role for local department managers in all areas - local branch, regionally and nationally.

  • Bachelor degree preferred.

  • 5-10 years airfreight experience    

  • 5 years experience in Freight Forwarding Operations / Customer Service / Sales.

  • At least 3 years supervising a team with excellentresults.

  • Public speaking andpresentation skills.

  • Foreign language skills and overseas work experiencebeneficial.

  • Travel 50% within the area and occasionalinternational travel required.

Base salary is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
