Job Description:

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Co-op and Internship opportunities allow you to gain valuable work experience across a number of the businesses at TD. You will work with experienced colleagues, receive world class training, and be part of a community of students across TD, where you will have an impact, grow as individual and experience our culture of care.

Our Co-op/Intern Programming is offered with select Co-op and Internship roles and is designed to help you better understand the TD business, build on critical career capabilities, and broaden your professional network. This program is designed to complement your on-the job experience and features:

Alongside a collaborative team of UX and UI designers, as well as supportive leaders, you’ll have opportunities to learn, grow and make a meaningful difference to our customers via their day-to-day banking needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Key Projects:

  • Discovery Research to provide insights and inform experience that impacts new or existing customers as they engage with TD. Our focus would be on the priority audiences, who are the future of the bank, and can influence journey's, innovation teams, product construct, marketing teams, etc.

  • Creating foundational knowledge, focused on the prioritized audiences, to influence concepts and UX strategy roadmaps informed by multiple points of reference (from user discovery to evaluation), including activities and artifacts such as:

  • Design thinking workshops (e.g., empathy mapping)

  • Persona/architypes creation

  • User experience journey maps

  • Service design blueprints

  • Ideation, conceptualization, and evaluation of new experiences for the defined priority audiences, based on the discovery and research and the experience framework outputs.

  • Accountabilities:

  • The UX Design – supporting experience design activities and outputs including:

  • Persona/architype development

  • User journey mapping

  • UX Design Thinking and Ideation Workshop activities (preparation, workshop involvement, creation of outputs)

  • Conception creation

  • Participating and supporting design research activities

  • UX Design Research – supporting activities and outputs of the discovery research as well as any concept evaluation activities, including:

  • Supporting research planning (e.g., screeners, consent forms, participant recruitment etc.)

  • Supporting research activities and outputs (e.g., observing and note taking, analyzing results, creation of reports, etc.)

  • Participating and supporting UX design activities

  • Conception creation

  • Participating and supporting design research activities

  • Objectives:

  • The primary focus on the EAJ experience strategy team is to support ideation of evidence-based designs that solves TD customer challenges and needs when it comes to EDB products. The goal, however, is to create a wealth of insights that can be used as a foundation for experiences across TD.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in User Experience Design, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce or related field

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term (requirement of all co-op/intern positions)

  • Preferred skills:

  • This role will require use of the Figma application and similar design tools.

  • High visual acuity is a position requirement.

  • UX Design Intern/Co-op has both theory and practical experience with creating impactful user/customer focused experiences by implementing user-centered design methodologies. Valuable skills could include:

  • Experience with created personas/profiles and experience journey maps

  • Having had the opportunity to observe and/or participate in design research activities

  • Some knowledge of design thinking

  • Some experience in design thinking and service design blueprinting would be an asset but not required

  • Demonstrated ability of critical thinking and problem solving

  • Strong communication skills, ability to communicate findings and ideas clearly and concisely (oral, written, graphical)

  • Collaborates well with interdisciplinary teams

  • A willingness to try new experiences and a love of learning

  • Design Research Intern/Co-op has strong theoretical and research background in psychology, anthropology, industrial engineering, human factors, human-computer interaction, or a related field. Valuable skills could include:

  • Experience with primary and secondary research methods (experience with primary research is important). This could include lab management or data collection.

  • Demonstrated ability of critical thinking and problem solving

  • Understanding of user-centric designs and the impact research has on experience design

  • Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate findings and ideas clearly and concisely (oral, written, graphical)

  • Collaborates well with interdisciplinary teams

  • A willingness to try new experiences and a love of learning
