As a member of CIBC’s team, the Senior Project Manager, IT is a seasoned expert responsible for overseeing the day-to-day project activities of complex projects of a tactical nature, ensuring project control procedures and policies are adhered as per technology’s project performance standards. The role works with minimal direction, applying deep knowledge in their field of expertise to manage the delivery of project management best practices and processes including reporting, project planning, and support activities. The Senior Project Manager, IT uses significant latitude in determining objectives and leads employees in the development of analytical approaches, while establishing and maintaining client, senior management, and project manager relationships. In addition, the role provides status updates and progress reports to project stakeholders to manage expectations related to scope and timeline constraints.

How you'll succeed
Project Planning & Management – Outline project goals, terms of reference, resource requirements, and costs.
Create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project.
Mitigate risks and ensure projects align with business goals.
Monitor milestones; ensure they are completed according to timelines and budgets.
Execute a project plan that strikes the right balance between budget, time, and risk.
Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration – Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services.
Negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.
Collaborate across teams and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Develop trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.
Technical Oversight - Oversee server refreshes, windows migrations, CCR (Change Control Request) processes, and automated patching.
Ensure minimal disruptions and compatibility of systems during transitions.
Support scalable and secure infrastructure engineering efforts.
Oversee the resolution of compliance gaps, vulnerabilities, and system issues.
Ensure adherence to security and regulatory standards.
Who you are
You can demonstrate at least 5 years of experience in project management, ideally within the financial services or technology industry.
You have managed cross-portfolio projects in a matrix environment.
You have experience with waterfall and agile methodologies and knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).
You have experience with project and issue management tools such as MS Projects, ServiceNow, JIRA and have a strong understanding of project financials. Nice to have understanding/experience of ITIL framework and Planview.
Experience with IT infrastructure including server & software deployment and builds, and network install and configuration would be beneficial.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study. It’s an asset if you have your PMP designation.
