Job Description

We are currently seeking a Shipping Supervisor to join our team of skilled professionals at our Toronto, ON Location.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for coaching, educating and motivating shipping operators and coordinating manufacturing activities in order to achieve operational goals in the area of safety, environmental quality, cost and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead team in safety training and ensure ongoing compliance

  • Audits their team members to ensure safe work habits, and also ensure work areas are free of hazards.

  • Audits FIFO to ensure sustainment of finished products and raw materials.

  • Utilizes planning and organization to maximize time as it applies to shipping & receiving and staging of all shipments

  • Oversees the daily activities of the warehouse area, including labor, scheduling and space utilization

  • Orders materials to support production planning needs

  • Ensures customer requirements are met by overseeing receiving, storing and shipping

  • Documents all shipping orders, government regulations and adheres to company policy and customer specifications

  • Leads and participates in inventory process – investigates count variances to understand the cause and implement corrective actions.

  • Provides leadership and direction for all operations in the areas of shipping and production

  • Researches and recommends new capital equipment purchases as necessary

  • Coordinate efficient yard space utilization


  • 5 - 8 years shipping supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing environment

  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management. Both written and oral communications skills

  • Leadership skills should be highly developed, along with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • Prior experience operating a Fork Truck

Supply chain management certification or designation preferred
