We are a fast-growing organization, currently seeking a Senior Project Controller to be a key member of our high-achieving, diverse, innovating team. 

This is a full-time, non-remote position based in downtown Toronto 

 

The Opportunity 

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Project Controller to manage project controls and contracts on behalf of our clients, while helping to develop Dokainish & Company’s ongoing business and internal talent. 

Responsibilities 

  • Analyze, prepare, validate, and maintain cost estimates, budgets, and schedules. 

  • Manage internal and external enterprise cost and schedule software systems. 

  • Create, modify, and/or maintain Work and Cost Breakdown Structures. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project control systems and tools. 

  • Review project expenses, client invoices, and related accounting transactions. 

  • Maintain project risk registers, including the identification of new, impacting, and retired risks. 

  • Analyze relationships between planned work, executed work, and actual costs using Earned Value Management techniques. 

  • Ensure tasks are meticulously planned and executed. 

  • Analyze and maintain schedule logic, manage what-if scenarios, and review critical path activities. 

  • Ensure that goods and services are delivered as expected and in accordance with the schedule. 

  • Administer change control processes on behalf of Dokainish and its clients. 

  • Train new/junior project controls staff based on industry best practices and personal experience in the industry. 

  • Manage Dokainish project teams and serve as a single point of contact for clients. 

  • Make recommendations to Dokainish senior leadership for sensible changes, adjustments, or upgrades to our internal work practices. 

  • Find and develop leads for new business opportunities through professional networking, organizational membership, and attendance at conferences 

Reporting 

  • Develop and implement monthly project reports for all project controls disciplines. 

  • Manage monthly lifecycle reporting and forecasting activities. 

  • Track and explain cost and schedule variances including recommend corrective actions. 

  • Prepare and present to management the monthly project/program/portfolio financial summaries. 

  • Deliver ad hoc status reports as needed to Dokainish senior leadership and clients 

Education/Qualifications 

  • College/university graduate or equivalent combination of technical skills and experience. 

  • 10+ years of related project experience with an engineering, consulting, or professional services company or companies. 

  • Experience working as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more project controls disciplines, or equivalent recognition from references. 

  • Firm understanding of Contract Administration and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend contractual language. 

  • Superior working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Expertise in software systems related to project controls (e.g., Primavera P6) and a firm grasp on related business management systems (e.g., SAP). 

  • Experience working across various sectors/industries is a plus. 

  • Seeks challenging opportunities across businesses and borders. 

  • Consulting experience is a plus. 

  • Willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice. 

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills: able to manage competing priorities/deadlines, as well as the flexibility to adjust to changing operational needs. 

  • High degree of social intelligence, integrity, and maturity. 

  • Collaborative, resourceful, and self-motivated working style. 

  • Meticulous attention to detail. 

  • Ability to think critically and evaluate situations and solve problems creatively with tact and good judgement. 

  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality. 

  • Establish and maintain excellent customer relations with clients. 

  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required. 

  • Able to work in-office, non-remote, in downtown Toronto, Ontario.
