JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Day Ahead Market .
Reporting to the Director of Market Operations, the Senior Manager of Day Ahead Market oversees development, implementation, monitoring, assessment and communication of market operation strategies. The scope of the assigned work includes the coordination of inputs from other departments, price volume analysis, limited energy generation pricing, managing working relationships with IESO, stations, plant groups and other departments both internal and external to OPG. The Senior Manager of Day Ahead Market is also responsible for day ahead portfolio optimization, offering all OPG nuclear, thermal and hydroelectric generation to the Ontario market, scheduling of rivers systems to maximize limited energy available from hydroelectric electric resources.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support the Director of Market Operations as required in the execution of all the Director's duties
Act for the Director of Market Operations during periods of the Director's absence
Develop OPG's Offer Strategy for Ontario energy and ancillary markets that provides expected revenue
Manage communication of offer strategy to real time and day ahead staff as required for the execution of their duties and management of the offer strategy process.
Accountable for meeting OPG revenue targets in the IESO administrated market, while meeting market power policy objectives and generation constraints identified by stations and plant groups
Manage relationships with IESO, market surveillance panel and other agencies with regards to handling offer strategy issues
Manage and coordinate day ahead inputs from trading, outage management, transmission assessment, offer implementation, settlements and market rules
Direct trading to take the day ahead positions required for portfolio management hedging.
Manage preparation of day ahead demand forecast for day ahead portfolio planning process, real time and day ahead physical trading activities.
Manage water management inputs from plants group via the Water Desk to optimize availability and flexibility of hydroelectric production for day ahead and real time operations.
Manage after the fact market analysis for: a) day ahead and real time Ontario market activities and improve market operation processes. b) physical trading activities during real time (new positions in real time or transferred positions from day ahead Trading) c) day ahead portfolio hedges
Manage development of day ahead and real time risk limits and coordinate approval with Risk Services
Identify, evaluate and implement risk management strategies in order to meet targets and mitigate risk for OPG.
Ensure day ahead activity is conducted in strict accordance with Risk Management policy and controls and implement best practices for audit and documentation. Appropriate staff training should be provided to eliminate risk of having exceptions.
