The Cyber Security Design and Development leads the evolution of our Managed Security Services (MSS) portfolio. This means you are responsible for designing and developing new security services and features that go to market for TELUS Security all while following current industry best practices and standards. You will work closely with our business partners, Product Management and Architecture to ensure that business requirements for our security service offerings are well understood and agreed upon by all stakeholders. You will also be required to coordinate with our internal Security DevOps stakeholders to provide thorough assessments for requests that come through our Cyber Security Front Door. This means you will review the request with all impacted internal stakeholders to determine the effort, scope and timelines required to execute the request. The completed assessment is then forwarded back to the requestor for their review.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we will accomplish together

We are seeking an intermediate (2-5 years’ of industry experience) and a senior (5-10 years’ of industry experience) to join the Cyber Security Design and Development team.

As a Security Consultant you will leverage your subject matter expertise in the field of cyber security to create the next wave of advanced security services by designing and developing products, features, and technologies for our TELUS customers. Your work will enable security solutions that create value and provide “best of breed” solutions using security best practices and standards. Some of the existing and new service offerings may include Identity Access Management, NGFW (Palo Alto / Cisco), SASE, Network Access Control, MDR, and Cloud-based offerings such as AWS/AZURE/GCP.

Here’s how

  • Expert in Solution Development :

  • Lead the design and development of various standardized security solutions and work directly with project management to coordinate solution design meetings to engage and manage all appropriate stakeholders in the solution development process

  • Manage various stakeholder groups to ensure the right solution is developed and meets the business and technical requirements

  • Following industry best practices and standards as you go through the various development cycles

  • Collaborative Team-Player :

  • Engage with Product Management, Architecture, Delivery, and Operations teams to develop security solutions which meet our clients’ business needs and align with TELUS’ strategic initiatives

  • Work closely with project managers to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and on budget

  • Creative Thinker : Provide strategic leadership in formulating innovative, standardized solutions that encompass multiple product / service capabilities

  • Diligent Organizer : Update the leadership team on solution development progress, including weekly status updates, operational or support challenges, and identifying risks

  • Confident Presenter : Participate in peer and functional reviews with our stakeholders to ensure that the solutions you develop meet the business requirements defined by Product Management

Qualifications

  • For the intermediate opening: you are valued for your 2-5 years of experience in information security and technology

  • For the senior opening: you are valued for your 5-10 years of experience in information security and technology

  • For the senior opening: you are valued for your proven track record for your ability to mentor junior team members and help them improve on their technical skills and capabilities

  • High level of knowledge and competence across all facets of the solution development life cycle including validation, testing, creating documentation, and performing peer and functional reviews with stakeholders

  • Known for your collaborative spirit and ability to maintain strong relationships in a cross-functional team environment

  • Knowledge of managed security services including requirements gathering, monitoring / ticketing, and life cycle management

  • Ability to scope, assess, and provide effort estimates on standardized security solutions

  • Valued for your leadership skills by your ability to influence others, make decisions, and build consensus within a team environment

  • Commended for your excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to resolve / remove technical roadblocks through regular communication and governance meetings with our security vendors

  • Post-secondary degree or technical diploma in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent experience

Great-to-haves

  • Possess security vendor certifications such as PCNSE, CCSP and / or others

  • Experience with Ansible, UNIX, Linux, & python scripting

  • Knowledge and experience with cloud-based providers: AWS / GCP / AZURE

  • Working experience and / or knowledge of SD-WAN technologies such as Viptela, Nuage, and Velo Cloud
