Ratehub Product Designer in Toronto, Ontario

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our growing team in downtown Toronto. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to extend their visual design skills into the world of user experience and learn UX methodologies.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about design with a keen eye for detail and a desire for growth. They will have an understanding of visual design and user experience design best practices and be able to translate high-level requirements into clean and functional user interfaces through our design system. The candidate will act as an integral part of our Product Team where they will have the opportunity to collaborate with other designers, PMs, content and partnerships teams within Ratehub.ca and MoneySense. They will be highly collaborative, a great problem solver, and someone who is eager to learn new things.

  • Deliver all design needs for allocated teams and collaborate with stakeholders from specified business units to understand business and customer needs

  • Collaborate with other designers to define and adhere to design standards and best practices

  • Design low to high-fidelity prototypes to test new features/experiences and get user feedback

  • Assess and identify areas for improvement in current landing pages and experiences and create engaging visual interface/interaction designs in accordance with our design system and brand

  • Use data, professional insights, and experience to inform design decisions

  • Perform qualitative user research to evaluate design solutions and suggest product improvements

  • Translate marketing objectives and design briefs into simple marketing communications, including banners, email, web pages, infographics, and other collaterals

  • Image sourcing and modification for use across the website and in branded materials

  • Design and formatting of Google slide decks for both internal and client-facing purposes


  • 2+ years of visual design experience developing infographics, designing basic web pages, crafting assets for digital brands

  • 1+ years of UI/UX experience design across web, mobile, and desktop applications

  • Experience designing products for business customers and implementing user research

  • Experience with Sketch and Adobe Suites is required

  • Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, and Javascript) is a bonus

  • Familiarity with agile software development and lean UX processes

  • A creative problem solver who is capable of taking a feature from exploration & discovery, to definition, to interaction design, to final visual execution

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments under tight deadlines

  • Ability to think big and understand complex feature sets

  • Collaboration; you make an effort to involve people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets in your process. Thrive on feedback and constructive criticism and know how to prioritize and incorporate varying points of view

  • An analytical mindset; you strive to validate your design decisions with best practices and data. You can draw out and incorporate useful insights and themes from user feedback and metrics

  • Communication; you build trust and buy-in by articulating your design decisions, ideas, and solutions in an empathetic and practical manner to stakeholders and non-designers

  • Post-secondary education in design or UX program is required (degree, diploma, or certificate)
