The Opportunity:

Seize the opportunity! WSP is seeking a Manager for Mechanical Engineering to join our Buildings Mechanical & Electrical Department at the Thornhill office. We are looking for a proven leader who prioritizes the team, providing motivation, encouragement, and support, while valuing each member's unique contributions. You have a technical background in mechanical design, including HVAC and plumbing, across various building types. What you can expect to do here:

• Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers, EITs, and designers, providing guidance and support.

• Act as a mentor to the team, helping individuals develop their skills and advance in their careers.

• Act as the lead on complex projects

• Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables on all projects undertaken by the team.

• Allocate resources effectively to meet project requirements and deadlines.

• Ensure all engineering work meets quality standards and codes, while ensuring client expectations are met.

• Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications.

• Address and resolve any technical issues or challenges that arise during project execution.

• Work closely with other engineering disciplines and architects.

• Maintain and manage strong relationships with clients, architects and contractors.

• Implement and promote best practices and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering consulting industry focus on the design of mechanical systems for buildings

• A valid PEO license.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, and standards.

• Demonstrated experience in managing projects, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.

• An ability to work collaboratively.

• Desire to participate in client management and business development activities.
