Job Description:

Job Description Summary

Data Risk Management (DRM) provides second line oversight and challenge of data risk in support of TD's Enterprise Data Management Strategy. At a high level, this role will be expected to:

  • Lead, support, and demonstrate data management and risk management expertise.

  • Effectively challenge the first line and identify, communicate, mitigate, report, and escalate data risk in alignment with requirements.

  • Provide independent opinion, commentary, and recommendations based on strategy and industry best practices.

  • Demonstrate risk intelligence behaviors and outcomes while operating within the Bank's risk appetite.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Function amongst a team of risk professionals and advise on challenge, controls, and/or risk across risk and control partners.

  • Manage oversight and challenge process and lead oversight and challenge of the first line's implementation and effective execution of the Enterprise Data Management Strategy.

  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders in support of developing, maintaining, aligning, and challenging policies, procedures, and/or practices.

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with the risk appetite, and operate in adherence to enterprise frameworks, requirements, roles and responsibilities, and methodologies.

  • Work with executive team, senior management, and/or partners to develop, monitor, adjust, and/or report on proactive strategies, tactics, artifacts, and/or controls to effectively manage internal and external expectations (i.e., enterprise risk, compliance, regulators).

  • Identify, define, manage, and/or validate issues in alignment with requirements and participate in effective socialization, communication, and escalation as necessary.

  • Conduct internal and external research; stay knowledgeable on emerging risks, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements; and support the development and/or delivery of presentations/communications to management and/or a broader audience.

TEAM

  • This is an individual contributor role that generally reports to a Senior Manager or executive role.

  • Support DRM team members and colleagues in developing expertise to align with enterprise demand and direction and continue to look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered.

  • Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among the team, communicate risks and/or issues in a timely manner, and encourage good working relationships with internal, broader, and cross functional teams.

  • Support an environment where the team and colleagues freely escalate challenges and facilitate change through positive reinforcement of milestones, successes, and adjustments.

  • Promote a fair and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce and encourage the team to achieve common goals and objectives.

  • Act as a brand ambassador for DRM and the bank, both internally and externally.

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Use critical thinking to assess, identify, and clearly define risk and associated connections.

  • Effectively and clearly make recommendations, communicate, and present to senior management and executives.

  • Develop and finetune communication to align to a specific audience.

  • Support an integrated approach within DRM and more broadly (i.e., risk and control functions, first line stakeholders, and/or the enterprise as appropriate).

  • Coordinate and prioritize multiple initiatives, manage resource allocation, and align to adjustments and change.

  • Support and contribute to the overall discipline and strategy for oversight and challenge of data risk.

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of businesses, technology, and organizational practices/disciplines.

  • Focus on short to medium-term activities (i.e., quarterly; 6-12 months).

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or

  • 7+ years relevant experience
