Johnson Controls IT and Technology Project Manager – Performance Infrastructure in Toronto, Ontario

What you will do

As the IT and Technology PM on the Johnson Controls Public Private Partnership (P3) team, you will be responsible for the delivery of IT and Technology related projects for the P3 site.

Reporting to the ICAT Customer Business Director, IT and Technology the project manager will be responsible for project deliverables such as definition of project scope, project planning and implementation approach and methods, development of project timelines, budgets, team members and structure. Once the project has been defined, approved, the project manager will also be responsible for the implementation of these projects.

Project typically include upgrades and refreshes to following systems and technologies:

CCTV Systems

Access Control

Real Time System Locating (RTLS)

Nurse Call

Building Automation Systems

Digital Signage

Network (Wired and Wireless)

IT Infrastructure such as servers and SANs

DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems)

The project sites are in many cases 7X24 critical care healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, educational sites and courthouses. Experience in working in these types of environments is required.

How you will do it

Typical tasks, duties and responsibilities for the IT and Technology PM include:

  • Initiate, plan, execute, control and close programs to deliver project scope within established targets for budget, quality and time to market.

  • Lead cross-functional, global and diverse project teams.

  • Plan for, and acquire, necessary resources and coordinate the efforts of core, extended and support team members, contractors or consultants in order to deliver programs according to plan.

  • Coach, mentor and motivate project team members to take positive action and accountability for assigned work. - Create and deliver progress reports, presentations and project status updates via project scoreboards/dashboards, management reviews, and project team meetings

  • Identify, escalate and help resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. - Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path(s).

  • Communicate and work closely with other program managers, Customer Business Directors, Customer Business Managers and executive leadership to achieve program goals.

  • Leverage (or help develop) best practices and tools to aid in project execution and management.

  • Acts as the primary on-site leader for execution teams on assigned projects. Develops project schedules and executes according to plan for assigned projects.

  • Actively pursues additional work through change orders and variations.

  • Performs associated cost estimates, prepares proposals and negotiates final settlement price and customer acceptance.

  • Manages costs, billings and collections, completes project billings in a timely and accurate format to the client and maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow.

  • Review and interprets contract Terms and Conditions.

  • Analyzes financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems.

  • Effectively communicates project progress, issues and financial status to management as required.

  • Utilizes Microsoft Project to execute and evaluate job progress and risks.

  • Manages risks and establishes project recovery plans when required.

  • Resolves disputes with minimal need for escalation.

  • Negotiates, prepares and issues subcontracts.

  • Ensures project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements and JCI standards.

  • Oversees project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes and installation techniques.

  • Manages the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned.

  • Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required ensuring that subcontractors understand expectations of the project.

  • Ensures any engineering and commissioning performed by the field team is in accordance with established standards. Facilitates escalation of product related problems.

What we look for

Required

Minimum ten years experience with demonstrated performance in IT or Technology fields.

Experience working in Healthcare, preferably within a Public Private Partnership (P3) contract is preferred

Experience with construction project standards as well as IT project standardsMust have previous and proven IT and Technology project management experienceDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment; ability to communicate well both verbally and in written formats. Ability to work collaboratively with user, development and support groups. Good political acumen with flexibility & adaptability to changing situations.

Sound commercial decisions making skills with an understanding of IT contract subcontract relationships and management.IT / Technical certifications.PreferredPreferable a BSc in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent certifications and work experience.
