SMBC Information Security Analyst in Toronto, Ontario

Role Description

SMBC Canada Branch is seeking an IT Security Analyst. This role will report directly to the Associate, IT Security, and will collaborate with local and global teams to assist in assessing systems and processes against IT security policies, regulatory requirements and industry best practices and lead changes to information security risk management practice

Key Accountabilities

  • Mangement of information security tickets

  • User account and physical access monitoring

  • Account management (IAM tasks taken over from IT)

  • Periodic account, log and application review tasks

  • Vulnerability and patch management

  • Desktop manual drafting

  • File and folder management

  • Project implementation and support alongside the information security eam

  • Ongoing reporting to various stakeholders

  • Assistance with Tokyo or AD or regulatory driven projects or assessments

  • Assistance with collection of evidence for reporting to management

Interpersonal/Communications

Internal: IT team members

All Canada Branch staff, including Branch Management

Counterparts & partners in JRIA, SMBC-NY office and Tokyo HO.

External: Software/hardware vendors/technicians for information/repairs, office supplies/equipment vendors to purchase goods/services.

Requirements

Knowledge:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or related field of study.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and commonly used banking applications, operating systems and databases.

  • Knowledge about information security and systems risk management is an asset

Skills:

  • Ability to write and communicate requirements to business and technology partners

  • Ability to track a portfolio of projects

  • Ability to co-ordinate efforts across multiple teams

  • Self-motivated and disciplined approach to learning and working.

  • Ability to independently execute tasks with minimal direction.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year(s) working experience in information security or IT Audit function

  • Experience working in a banking/financial services environment is an asset
