Department Overview:

The Customer Platforms Finance team has the unique privilege of supporting the Banks Digital, Innovation, Technology and Shared Services businesses in creating innovative and leading edge strategies within the Lines of Business they operate in (Canadian Personal Banking, TD Bank Americas Most Convenient Bank, TD Wealth and TD Insurance).

Our team mandate includes:

  • Value added analysis, advice, and guidance to business partners

Job Description:

The successful candidate for this position will report to the Senior Manager, Finance. Their objective is to provide financial and business analysis and support Customer Platforms. The Finance Manager must be a driver with strong leadership / communication skills and have experience in leading and delivering value added business analysis, advice, and guidance. Candidates must be committed to professionalism, highly organized, able to see the big picture while paying attention to small details.

  • Manage financial aspects of project tracking and reporting for the assigned projects portfolio, ensuring alignment to annual fiscal budget.

  • Support in providing strategic portfolio analysis & insight for various senior executive/management teams. This requires the consolidation of data from various financial sources and the ability to transform financial data into meaningful and actionable recommendations.

  • Provide thought leadership and drive change by improving project data governance & process, building stronger relationships with key business partners and the development of new value-added project analytics.

  • Participate in Quarter Business Reviews (QBRs) quarterly and PI planning for Platforms

  • Work with senior management and lead in the development / implementation of new financial models, methodologies to support the business in understanding the financial impact of their decisions

  • Lead and oversee the development of monthly and quarterly operating result packages. Conduct graduated analysis on monthly results and provide value add advice, and guidance.

  • Promote a positive work environment that encourages productivity, innovation, creativity, teamwork, analysis and advice – act as a role model.

  • Be a leader in forecasting & planning by further building process excellence and leveraging partners to provide value add to the business.

  • Liaise with senior management and decision support team during the planning process to ensure initiatives are effectively incorporated into the business Annual Plan.

  • Provide leadership and support to the Customer Platforms Finance team, fostering a positive and rewarding work environment

Job Requirements:

Professional Skills:

  • Skilled in financial planning, analytics, and project costing / business cases

  • Expertise in accounting guidelines and rules, focus on project accounting

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to negotiate, problem solve and make decisions. Strong relationship building skills. Enjoy working in a team environment fostering positive rewarding relationships.

  • Ability to get things done and deliver superior results. Continuous improvement mentality.

  • Ability to independently manage deadlines while multitasking between different projects.

  • Proactive self-starter – able to work independently in a relatively unstructured environment.

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise analysis/reporting that supports decision making.

  • Experience developing, testing and documenting controls

Leadership Competencies

  • Strong business acumen with a “value-added” mindset - ability to consolidate information into clear and concise analysis.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading new process creation and existing process improvement initiatives.

  • Organizational awareness and the ability to balance the viewpoints of Finance, Business Units and Project Management Offices.

Specific Educational and Professional Experience Requirements:

  • Banking Industry knowledge would be an asset

  • 5+ years in Finance/Project portfolio/ Management Reporting experiences, as well as having an accounting designation or working towards a designation (CPA/CGA/MBA/CFA) would be an asset

  • Experience performing project costing or business case functions

  • Experience using Financial and Project Management systems (ie. CA PPM, Hyperion)

  • Experience using tableau, Alteryx, confluence would be an asset

  • Excellent MS Excel/MS PowerPoint/ MS Word
