Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end planning and delivery of multiple parallel projects within the modernization program. As a key contributor to project success, the incumbent oversees all aspects of projects, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors, and summarizes progress of the project as well as builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects. Working with cross-functional teams, the role prepares reports for upper management regarding status of the projects and verifies that the project portfolio achieves the potential benefits defined in the project’s business case. Moreover, the incumbent will actively participate in the deployment of projects governance, standards and best practices and is accountable for supervising project team members.

Main Responsibilities

· Coordinate and complete large scale and complex projects

· Understand a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures

· Negotiate changes in scope, budget, or schedule with sponsor and steering committee or management

· Lead and direct the work of others

· Report progress to Delivery Managers, head of a unit or the department and steering committee

· Identify resource requirements

· Identify milestones and critical success factors

· Communicate and collaborate with people across the organization including partners, clients, and vendors to get work done

· Ensure project transparency with timely and effective project communications

· Escalate issues and risks

· Lead steering committee with the Senior Delivery Managers

· Align delivery teams and practices throughout the project's execution

· Handle project constrains and assumptions as well as maintain projects Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) throughout the project's lifecycle

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires minimal travel (10%) with Canada and the United States (U.S.).

Requirements

Experience

Project Management

· Minimum 10 years of experience in Information and Technology (I&T) project management

o Demonstrated experience with large transformative programs

o Experience with end-to-end delivery of mission-critical technology products and services where down time is close to zero

o Experience working in the Transportation or Rail industry on I&T projects*

*Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

· Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Technology, or equivalent

· Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, or equivalent

*Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

· Knowledge of Microsoft Project Professional Server (e.g., Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) and Progressive Web Application (PWA)).

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)

· Fluently bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)

This position is posted as a grade 7. For internal candidates, note that the grade level of the position may adjust based on the employee's experience.
