Job Description:

Business Banking Operations plays a critical role in supporting our client facing business lines and internal partners across a multitude of operational functions across Business Banking. We are focused on achieving the Business Banking “Quest” by seeking ways to deliver value faster, modernize our operations and enhance the colleague experience. The Data Management team sits within the Business Banking Operations team and is focused on ensuring there is a comprehensive data management strategy that provides an end-to-end view of the data managed and leveraged by Business Banking to inform business decisions, customer interactions and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Banking Data Management, the Data Management Intern/Co-Opp student will assist in championing data management activities in Business Banking. They will be responsible for ensuring data is managed and governed in accordance with the Enterprise Data Mgmt Standards and Information Management Policies.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the fundamentals of Data Management to provide change management training and support to business partners, allowing them to understand its value and their roles and responsibilities.

  • Work with business partners and application owners to complete data lineage, data mapping, data profiling, metadata documentation and defining data quality rules to help document data elements. Initial focus will be on the data elements deemed to be critical

  • Document data related requirements needed to build out data retention and disposition capabilities for applications as well as other data media in the Business Banking inventory

  • Contribute to the logical groupings of data based on association with a common subject area, as part of the larger work effort to define data domains and work related to a centralized repository supporting consistent usage and standardization

  • Support activities required for ingestion of data to a cloud-based data lake

  • Work with a cross functional team to deliver data management related activities in an iterative manner to derive value faster

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement nature of the Data Management team through timely feedback, knowledge sharing and collaborating with other team members

  • Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce or related field

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term

  • Proficient in Microsoft tools such as MS Visio and MS Powerpoint

  • Oral and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills

  • Creative problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of business process analysis methodologies to understand and map current business processes

  • Knowledge of data and its upstream and downstream uses to contribute where data is used across the process

  • Knowledge of data platforms and warehouse designs/principles considered an asset (i.e MS Azure)

  • Knowledge of programming languages would be an asset (SQL, Python)

  • Knowledge of business process analysis methodologies to understand and map current business processes

  • Knowledge of data and its upstream and downstream uses to contribute where data is used across the process

  • Knowledge of scaled agile ceremonies (i.e. Jira, Confluence) is considered an asset
