Global Merchant Marketing & Analytics team is dedicated to bringing buyers and sellers together and transforming how American Express is welcomed. GMS Marketing & Analytics is responsible for partnering with GMS (Global Merchant Services) markets to drive profitable growth, accelerate coverage and enhance the value of Amex acceptance to merchants and Card Members at scale. We focus on enhancing our relationships with millions of merchants of all shapes and sizes, and our geographic purview includes many commerce hubs across the globe including the U.S, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Analyst/Senior Analyst Merchant Value role sits within Global Merchant Services (GMS), part of the GMNS Organization, which is the merchant network at American Express that manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express Cards. GMS serves as a merchant acquirer, payments processor and marketing partner for merchants of all sizes, including small, regional, national and global businesses.

How will you make an impact in this role?

As the Analyst/Senior Analyst, Merchant Value, you will drive the strategy and execution for communications that delivers merchant satisfaction and Amex acceptance. In this role, you will be responsible for merchant lifecycle communications across digital, e-mail, DM and point of sale channels in Canada. With a multi-channel focus and as the main consultant to multiple groups, the ability to collaborate, lead and guide execution, and deliver thought leadership is critical.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop strategy to drive merchant lifecycle communications

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop the merchant communication strategy

  • Partner with creative agencies to develop creative and execute programs. Focus on fostering relationships, negotiating with vendors and maintaining their accountability and deliverables

  • Leverage campaign analytics and dashboards to inform future campaigns and messaging strategy

  • Work collectively with stakeholders including local and international marketing and analytics teams, Compliance and Legal teams, to drive meaningful merchant engagements

  • Develop well thought out strategic updates for senior leaders which align with strategic plan

Qualifications

  • University Degree or equivalent combination of education and business experience

  • Excellent relationship-building skills, including external partners & agencies

  • Ability to operate proactively and independently in a fast-moving, high-energy team

  • Strong communication, organization, storytelling and negotiation skills required

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

  • Superior attention to detail and flawless execution skills are a must

  • Analytical skills will be highly regarded
