Lyft Software Engineer, Android in Toronto, Canada

As an Android Engineer on the Scheduled Team, you will build new, differentiated products that improve riders' and drivers' experience with rideshare and make it easy to choose Lyft every time. Your role will be essential in ensuring Lyft's premium planned-rides offering is both dependable and a delightful user experience. The team collaborates closely with product, design, marketing to deliver business-critical initiatives and exciting new use cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate and maintain existing or new elements of our Driver and Rider applications

  • Help establish roadmap and architecture based on technology and our needs

  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code

  • Analyze our internal systems and processes and locate areas for improvement/automation

  • Collaborate with product org stakeholders to execute on projects

  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge

  • Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and promoting appropriate tech and engineering best practices

  • Can help lead large projects from idea to positive execution

  • Unblock, support and communicate with internal partners to achieve results

  • The work responsibilities of this role are expected to take place during business hours in your local Time Zone.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of software engineering industry experience

  • Experience with Kotlin

  • Experience with Jetpack Compose, declarative UI development, and creating shared components

  • Familiarity with current design and prototyping tools (Figma, etc).

  • Experience with architecture paradigms like unidirectional and reactive programming

  • Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, and cross-functional team.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid
