This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a CWA S. 404 Senior Permitting Specialist for our Kansas City office. The following locations will also be considered: Jefferson City, MO ; Wichita, KS ; and Topeka, KS . Lead permitting projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
WSP is actively seeking a biologist/environmental scientist experienced in the acquisition of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Clean Water Act Section 404 and associated federal and state consultations/permits.
Job functions include:
Scoping to identify project actions and permit needs.
Development of graphics to illustrate existing conditions and project impacts.
Site reconnaissance, WOTUS delineation, habitat assessment, and mitigation monitoring.
Prepare and review technical reports, analyses, and permit applications.
Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies.
Preparation of environmental reports and supporting materials.
Coordinate with project managers, task managers, project team technical leads, subconsultants, and other disciplines such as planning, siting, engineering, and PM/CM team members.
Verifies project adherence to federal, state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
Participates in project teams and participating in regular program/project planning, execution and delivery team meetings.
Represents the company at public or regulatory meetings.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Participates in preparation of proposal and/or marketing materials, including qualifications, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
5-7 years of obtaining Regulatory Permits with state, federal and municipal agencies to acquire permits to meet project goals/schedules
Demonstrated experience in the acquisition of S. 404 permits in the USACE Kansas City District is preferred.
Experience working in team environment to site facilities in the energy sector minimizing environmental, visual and customer impacts considering the companies and projects business requirements.
Experience leading wetland delineation efforts and preparing permit application materials
B.S. in Biological or Ecological Sciences, M.S. preferred but not required
Strong writing skills
Good communication skills and team player
Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) preferred
Experience permitting linear facilities (roadways, electric transmission lines, pipelines) is preferred.
Experience conducting natural resources constraints analyses for energy, industrial, and transportation facilities.
Experience writing or contributing to NEPA compliance documentation is a plus.
Travel may be required.
• Must be able to pass a Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam.
• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
