About the Role:
The plant engineer compliments the plant’s maintenance team through three key functions: reliability engineering, maintenance systems support, and autonomous maintenance. The primary functions of the role will be to utilize equipment data and best practices and identify solutions to increase the effectiveness of both the equipment and maintenance practices. The plant engineer must be willing to assume a leadership type role and will support the plant operation from a technical perspective.
Will serve in a team leadership role for the autonomous maintenance program rollout at the Tonawanda facility.
Works collaboratively to determine the optimized technical and business solutions that will increase employee safety, improve food safety, increase operational effectiveness, and/or increase equipment reliability.
Analyze and report downtime data to key stake holders.
Develops and reviews business case screening scopes, schedules, and estimates on strategic ideas. Reviews with plant leadership to provide a directional view of projects.
Guide the team in root cause analysis of breakdowns to develop process and engineering solutions.
Implement reliability centered maintenance (RCM) methodologies to enhance plant reliability.
Assist with creating and trialing equipment modifications.
Works cross-functionally with the site leadership team, Quality, EHS, Trans & Warehousing, Supply Planning, Center
Generate ideas and implements prioritized solutions that will increase employee safety, further drive our environmental agenda, improve food safety and food quality, improve equipment reliability, and drive top line (innovation) and bottom line (cost savings) growth.
Develop relationships with equipment OEMs to communicate best practices and reoccurring problems to increase equipment effectiveness.
Review and provide recommendations on new equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the asset.
On-site Management, troubleshooting and or technical support of priority operational opportunities.
Plant leader of root cause analysis (RCA) on mechanical/equipment breakdowns
Remains current with industry technologies and processes to provide best available technology solutions. Applies technical knowledge and leadership to solve problems and drive improvements on processing systems.
Initiate, develop and enhance CMMS usage.
Provides leadership and indirect supervision over the activities of the maintenance team.
Generates follow-up work orders from work lists.
Maintains working relationship with Contractors and Vendors to ensure equipment reliability.
Creation of maintenance systems to support future success of the organization such as standard procedures, preventative maintenance plans, and storeroom management.
Partners with Research and Development, Quality, Operations and Engineering/Maintenance on cost optimized solutions to drive to zero Loss.
Collaboratively develop a pipeline of projects to deliver annual cost savings.
All other duties as assigned.
Important Details: This is a full-time permanent role on 1st shift, with the ability to work on various shifts and weekends as needed. Salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 annually.

Experience developing and enhancing a CMMS.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
Experience in food and beverage capital project execution
Plant experience in operations, maintenance, and/or engineering preferred.
Experience with utility systems, waste-water pre-treatments systems, ingredient handling, food processing, and primary and secondary packaging systems preferred.
Continuous improvement mindset, challenging current processes both internally and externally with ability to bring adaptable solutions forward.
Proven skills in project management, negotiation, communication, and technical problem solving.
Comfortable communicating, presenting & influencing leadership on key technical issues.
Demonstrated track record of driving substantive improvement in key KPI’s such as cost reduction, reliability, and material loss reduction.
Ability to lead root cause failure analysis and develop an engineered solution.
