Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an interim Accounting Manager with a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions for this exciting opportunity within the Manufacturing industry. Ideal candidates will be able to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. You will succeed in this position if you can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability. The ideal candidate for this position is a creative team player with a talent for challenging the status quo, coming up with unique ideas. Manufacturing experience is a must for this 100% remote opportunity.

Key responsibilities

  • Engage with various business partners for various program controllership and FP& A activities such as ensuring accuracy of accrual models, appropriate accounting and true-up activities and answer queries from business, area and subsidiary controllers

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes and tools for the accountable programs

  • Drive deep insight & analysis with focus on future & changes needed in the partner incentives programs to the Partner business and finance teams, including key activities such as reviewing variance analysis report, analyze accrual calculation & investigate large variances, true up drivers, insights to business and teams based on the above to impact and influence upstream activities

  • Obtain understanding of key financial results and movements across programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners

  • Ongoing monitoring of actual spend against budget, as well as leading actions needed for any expected shortfalls

  • Collation of evidence and qualitative discussion of monthly financial results across global programs to support SOX controls

  • Work closely with partners to provide timely cash flow forecasts

  • Review and monitor that controls are designed and operating effectively in partnership with compliance

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly interval


  • BA/BS in Accounting (CPA,CMA is a plus)

  • Excellent proficiency in MS office applications including exceptional Excel skills

  • 8+ years professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems

  • AS400, Blackline, Floquast experience is a plus

  • Ability to manage, lead change and build process improvements

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Providing leadership across finance teams

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience with good organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with experience in establishing trusted advisor/consultant relationships and proven ability to influence Executives and Business Decision Makers

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Able to meet business deadlines

  • Expertise in cash flow management and job costing a must

  • Budget forecasting experience desired

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
